Clients expect to see national standards in outdoor and adventure activities in Jersey.

Jersey Walk Adventures is the walking arm (or should it be leg?) of Jersey Kayak Adventures Ltd.

This page explains just what the awards mean when you walk or kayak with us.We meet the following standards.

Adventuremark badge

Adventuremark

A safety scheme devised by the Adventure Activity Industry Advisory Committee (AAIAC) for providers of adventurous activities that are outside the scope of the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority (AALA).

If we were based in the UK, Jersey Walk Adventures would need to hold an AALA licence. However, the AALA remit does not extend to the Channel Islands.

Adventuremark provides the assurance that we:

Offer activities at an appropriate level.

Take account of the needs of users.

Have had our safety management arrangements inspected.

Comply with key areas for safe delivery of activities.

LOtC quality badge for EducationLearning Outside the Classroom (LOtC)

National accreditation scheme •combining the essential elements of provision – learning and safety – for activities with young people.

The Quality Badge demonstrates to teachers that we provide quality LOtC activities.

The LOtC badge reduces paperwork and red tape for teachers and indicates we:

Have processes in place to assist users to plan the learning experience effectively.

Provide accurate information.

Provide activities and experiences, which meet learner needs.

Review the experience and act on feedback.

Meet the needs of the users.

Have safety management processes in place to manage risk effectively.

WiSe badgeWild Life Safe (WiSe)

National training scheme to promote responsible wildlife watching in the marine environment.

All our lead iguides undertake WiSe training to watch wildlife, whilst minimising any potential disturbance.

Jersey based scheme, helping organisations to make a positive impact on the environment. Our performance is assessed in the following areas:

We hold Silver level 2 grade.

Green Tourism Silver standard badgeGreen Tourism Business Sliver grade

National sustainability award.

We are assessed by a qualified grading advisor against a rigorous set of criteria, covering a range of environmental and sustainability areas.

The scheme guarantees we:

Are committed to sustainable tourism and minimising its damage to the environment.

Operate in accordance with the relevant environmental regulations.

Meet minimum standards of good practice across a range of sustainable development indicators.

Are audited by a qualified professional to ensure standards are maintained.

Jersey Heritage Trust Accredited guides

If you stay overnight at Seymour Tower our staff have undergone training to be able to stay at the tower.

We are inspected annually.
